Another beauty from the big fella!

One of our most reliable suppliers is a big, burly guy from the Adelaide Hills who is distinguished by a huge mo, a very large bike, and a capacity for finding and blending some absolute gems – and always at excellent prices. This week we release his cabernet / shiraz blend from two of the premium regions of South Australia, with the grapes produced in one of the truly great recent vintages. Smooth and balanced, it is excellent drinking in these colder months – it will live for some years but is already delicious.

We also re-release a lovely young riesling, also from the wonderful 2012 vintage, the fresh and nicely dry wine from David Bruer in the Eden Valley. Finally we have a couple of bargains, a soft, easy drinking shiraz from the cool climate region of Hilltops in NSW, the Whistling Duck for only $8 a bottle and the Marienberg white blend from the 2012 vintage in McLaren Vale.

Chris Hill “Pan Terra Grand” 2012 Langhorne Creek McLaren Vale Shiraz Cabernet

55% off RRP of $29

From an outstanding vintage, this classic blend is smooth and supple, showing nice balance between rich, ripe fruit and very gentle and drying tannin. Not at all heavy, it has the classic hints of spice and warmth complementing the big, ripe fruit. Importantly it finishes nice and clean with a very gently dry finish. Produced by Chris Hill, this really is a delicious, affordable wine with a touch more structure than the straight shiraz. Originally selling for $29 this is great value.

Temple Bruer "Knights Templar" 2012 Eden Valley Riesling

35% off RRP of $19.95

We have a new shipment of this excellent riesling that was made by David Bruer (who claims a link back to the Knights Templar of some 900 years ago). It ticks all the boxes, being from a great vintage year in a prime region for this variety. Fresh and clean with lovely pure fruit acid higlighted by citrus flavours and with a nice dry finish, this is great drinking.

Whistling Duck Hill Tops (Young, NSW) 2010 Shiraz

Very Limited Stock!

From the Hilltops cool climate region near Young in NSW, this is an easy drinking, softer style that is ready to go. Grown by the Len Evans family, this label is usually only available in the UK and restaurants. This is a well- balanced lighter style of wine with soft, sweet cherry fruit, nice acid and gentle tannins with a long clean, dry finish. Good easy drinking and great value at only $8 a bottle.

Marienberg McLaren Vale 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

We have got some more of this wine we got from the wreckage of another vineyard collapse. From an outstanding "10 out of 10" vintage, this clean and crisp white has only 11.5% alcohol. It has fresh, lemony flavours and is smooth and crisp with nice suppleness. At the special price of only $9 a bottle, this delicious young wine is seriously good value.

If you like, we can tailor the contents to your own preferences (for example, mainly shiraz, or chardonnay etc etc) and all of the wines we sell have been tested by us for both quality and value.
