Drink better wine for less

Hello ,
This week we have a number of bargains and new releases, starting with the very last of the classic Hunter semillons we got some time back from Chris Hill. The 2002 Semillon comes from one of the grander estates in the Hunter that was established in the late eighties. They went slightly over the top, sparing no expense in growing quality grapes and once harvested, they planned that all their wine, including their semillon’s would be stored for a minimum of 10 years. Focusing only on “Museum Release” wines is an expensive process and ultimately let us purchase some absolute gems at outstanding prices. We have stored the 2002 for nearly three years to develop additional complexity, but it is still extraordinarily youthful and fresh, and will live for at least another decade if allowed to.
We also release a warm and friendly Tempranillo from McLaren Vale – from superb vintages such as 2012, this Spanish grape produces smooth, supple reds and this young wine is already very satisfying drinking, particularly at only $12 a bottle.
This week we have 3 bargain specials, a couple of whites and a Rosé – all very well priced, details are further below.
For drinks parties, or for that wedding or birthday party, we have a wide range of quality, bargain-priced wines that will mean you and your guests will indeed drink better for less! In the Sydney and Melbourne regions we can also provide beer and soft drinks, and we have glasses and ice buckets available at no charge.  It is very easy to get it all to your door. You can pay on-line or on invoice - visit www.winemarshalls.com.au to see our full range.

Chris Hill "Unearthed" 2002 Hunter Valley Semillon

69% off RRP of $45.00

With only 11.0% alcohol this lovely semillon is ideal for those looking for a lighter but satisfying, older white. Smooth and delicious and still retaining strong lemony elements, this is a classic Hunter that will live for years. Originally for sale in the vineyard at $45 it is a genuine bargain at only $14. NB cork closure with strong, new corks. The very last of these old semillons!

Doc Adams "Vigilant" 2012 McLaren Vale Tempranillo

25% off RRP of $15.99

Doc Adams is a 5 star rated winery located in McLaren Vale, arguably one of the best areas in Australia for growing this Spanish variety. From an outstanding vintage year, this young wine is already drinking very nicely indeed. Very smooth and supple, this red is fuller bodied, showing some nice spice and warmth, and a long, gently dry finish. Recommended if you like bigger, warmer styles of reds and you want a change from shiraz.

Basedow Wines Barossa Valley (SA) White Label 2009 Chardonnay

From a very good vintage year this wine is lighter to medium bodied, and is beautifully smooth with nice soft acid overlaid with a touch of richness. This is delicious wine, and even more of a bargain, being reduced for only this week to $9 a bottle

Monowai Hawkes Bay (NZ) 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

From one of the world's premium areas for this variety, and made by a highly regarded wine making family, this very fresh, young wine from a "nearly perfect" vintage is excellent drinking right now. It is smooth and crisp with lovely fresh fruit and big citrus flavours. At this weeks special price of only $10 a bottle but with a RRP of $18, this is outstanding value.

Peos Estate Manjimup (WA) 2011 "Chameleon" Rosé

With winter well and truly here is an opportunity to pick up a bargain priced Rosé – unlike most Australian styles, this is smooth and almost creamy rich and quite strong. Despite the high alcohol, it is only medium bodied. With a touch of oak it is not overly sweet, finishing with a nicely dry finish. This is a very easy drinking style and is great value at this weeks special price of only $7 a bottle.
