Quick Overview

This smooth and rich Italian wine was made from Primitivo grapes and defines what is a "fruit driven" wine. It has a lovely berry nose and in the mouth it is medium bodied with big soft, velvety fruit leading to a soft, gently drying finish. Not complex but it is delicious and perfect for those who do not enjoy the tannins in Australian reds.

Details

The Sensi family have been making wine in Italy since 1890 and from their original base in Tuscany are now one of the country’s biggest chianti exporters. They also own the fifteenth century Villa Calappiano property and vineyards, located close to the town of Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo, with the villa once being owned by the Medici’s. The “Sensi Collezione” label is used for their better quality export wines, and this smooth and delicious wine is one of them. This wine was made from Primitivo grapes (known locally and in America as Zinfandel) at Puglia located on the south eastern tip of Italy (the "heel" of the "boot" of Italy). This is the definition of a "fruit driven" wine and this is shown in its lovely berry nose. In the mouth it is medium bodied with big soft, velvety fruit leading to a gently drying finish. Not complex but it really is just plain delicious, and ideal for those who like red wine but find that the tannins in Australian reds do not agree with them.
