Quick Overview

From a superb vintage, this lovely pinot is smooth and balanced, with gentle, soft red-fruit flavours balanced by almost invisible oak. Lighter bodied, this pinot is very nice and easy drinking from a premier cool climate region of New Zealand. Do try and give it a bit of air so it can open up properly. Good value at $17 a bottle.

This smooth and supple wine is produced by the Lowe family from 22 hectares of vines on the banks of the Ngaruroro River in Crownthorpe, a cooler, higher altitude district of Hawke's Bay. From a "nearly perfect" vintage, and with aromas of soft red fruit and hints of mushroom, this is a lighter style that shows good strength and flavour. It is smooth and balanced, showing just a hint of spice, with almost invisible oak nicely balancing the soft (red) fruit acid into a long, very gently dry finish. Great drinking at only $17 a bottle but do give it some air to show all it has.
