Quick Overview

From a top region and a great vintage year, this family owned vineyard has produced a supple, smooth and full flavoured wine that actually tastes quite light due to its freshness. This delicious, almost creamy pinot has a taut, solid structure with a soft, gently dry finish – it really is good, solid wine, and a bargain as the vineyard is still selling it for $25.

From a small, family owned vineyard high in the Adelaide Hills, and grown in a terrific vintage year, this well-made wine is a bargain at just $19. It is still for sale at the vineyard for $25 and was recently available from one of the big on-line auction houses at a fixed price of $23. More importantly, however, it is a great example of how good pinot can be from one of the premier regions in Australia for this variety. A lovely deep but clear ruby / red plum in colour, it shows excellent aromas of ripe, red fruit and black-currents plus an appealing savoury element. It is quite full bodied with a very smooth and creamy-rich palate cleaned up by fresh acidity and slowly emerging, very gentle tannins. Full flavoured, supple and deliciously soft but gently dry, it actually tastes quite light due to the excellent freshness. A long way from the cherry flavoured, light-weight pinot you normally encounter at this price-point, this is a great example of a weightier, affordable and delicious pinot.
