Quick Overview

We got this gently rich, smooth red when 6t was being cleared out following the purchase of Tucks Ridge by Montalto. Previously priced at $45 at cellar door, this dark-fruited and gently dry wine is a bargain at just $22.50 and will be delicious drinking over the next four or more years. Ranked at 95 points by James Halliday.

Tucks Ridge was a Halliday “Five Star” winery that was recently purchased by its immediate neighbour, Montalto. They have totally re-branded them into a fun, early drinking producer so all their classic wines were heavily discounted for a quick sale. This is the last pinot made by Tucks Ridge winemaker Michael Kyberd and it is a beauty. Rated at 95 points by Halliday's Wine Companion, they describe it as follows : "it starts with aromas of dark cherries, cinnamon, cedary oak and florals. The palate is fuller-bodied, sweetly fruited and textured with pliable tannins as more complex, savoury flavours and aromas take hold; think forest floor and earthy notes. There is a brightness too and overall, it's delicious." Its also a real bargain at our price of $26.50 compared to its original cellar door price of $45.
