Quick Overview

This easy drinking and well-made wine is a great example of a smooth, gently rich chardonnay that the premier region of Padtheway produces in such an excellent year as 2012. This wine will never win a trophy, but it is smooth and supple, with a gentle richness leading into a clean, nicely fresh finish. Great everyday drinking, particularly at only $12.

Project Wine own a number of vineyards in prime regions of South Australia, as well as one of the biggest bottling plants in South Australia. Unlike a great many other vineyard owners who over-capitalised and got into strife, they secured major new capital from some Chinese investors some years ago and the quality of their wines has been markedly on the improve ever since. This is one of their “commercial” level wines and they took advantage of a superb vintage to make a very well-priced and well-made white. Medium bodied, it is smooth and supple, showing touches of oak well married into the white / stone fruit flavours. It has a gentle richness that leads into a reasonably long and nicely fresh finish. This is not and never will be a top-shelf chardonnay – however it is a really good, every day white that is very well priced, particularly at just $12 a bottle.
